Temporary power equipment hire guide

Build a dependable generation and distribution plan around demand and critical loads. The goal: a continuous, safe supply with sensible redundancy.

Sequence of work

Four stages.

01

List the loads

Record every significant load, its running power, its starting method and whether it's critical.

02

Size & configure

Size generation for peak and starting loads, and choose between single, synchronised or N+1 units.

03

Distribute safely

Plan boards, cable routes, RCD protection and earthing, and arrange electrician sign-off.

04

Fuel & maintain

Set refuelling intervals, bunding, service visits and remote monitoring for the hire period.

Typical fleet

01Towable or containerised generators
02Distribution boards
03Cabling
04Fuel cells
05Lighting towers
06Load banks

Build the request around the outcome

Describe the finished work, quantities and programme before you lock in a machine. A supplier can only judge suitability when the brief includes material conditions, access, operating space, delivery constraints and the expected work pattern. Treat attachments and supporting plant as part of one production system.

Compare rates with transport, minimum hours, operators, fuel, service response and return requirements all visible. For regional work, find out where the proposed unit is now.
