Illustrative figures, not market prices: A quotes $250 per day for three days plus $180 delivery and $180 collection: $1,110. B quotes $290 per day with $100 delivery and $100 collection: $1,070. B is $40 lower overall. A different minimum hire, engine-hour allowance or attachment charge could change the comparison again.
