Measure the route, not just the gate
Record the narrowest width, overhead clearances, turning radius, gradients, surface condition and load limits from the public road to the workface. Include photographs of gates, intersections, soft shoulders and the proposed unloading area.
Describe the operating envelope
Identify underground and overhead services, exclusion zones, nearby traffic, structures and public interfaces. For cranes and access equipment, include reach, height and ground-bearing information. For earthmoving plant, describe slopes, edges, water and likely changes after rain.
Send one version to every supplier
A consistent brief improves quote comparability. Add the site address, access contact, permitted delivery hours, induction process and traffic-control arrangements. Ask suppliers to state assumptions or exceptions rather than silently pricing around missing information.
General guidance only. Confirm project-specific requirements with competent people and the proposed supplier.
