Map the real journey
Ask where the exact machine is currently located, not only where the company is headquartered. A supplier may service a region from a distant depot or move equipment between projects. Record route restrictions, bridge limits, delivery access, escort requirements and whether the low-loader can safely turn and unload on site.
Plan support before it is needed
Regional productivity depends on parts, field service and replacement arrangements. Confirm response expectations, consumables, tyre or track support and what happens if the machine cannot be repaired promptly. For operated hire, include travel, accommodation, fatigue management and roster arrangements in the comparison.
Use programme flexibility intelligently
Combining deliveries, widening the mobilisation window or extending a hire can materially change cost. Share the programme early enough for suppliers to coordinate fleet movements. Avoid assuming that a service-area claim proves local stock; verify the actual mobilisation origin for every booking.
General guidance only. Confirm project-specific requirements with competent people and the proposed supplier.
